Today’s post will be a quickie, with the promised post on the Beyond Hunger Northern Indiana weekend celebrating Heifer’s 70th anniversary yet to come. We had 26 seagoing and flying cowboys and cowgirls present, and it was a fantastic event! And the more I work with Heifer staff, the more impressed I am with this organization and what they are able to accomplish in the world. So that begs the question: what makes them so effective? what makes them stand out among development organizations? I believe the answer lies in their Twelve Cornerstones, the elements in which each community receiving assistance from Heifer are trained:
